  • October 3 & 4 - The Florida Ranch Rodeo Finals & Cowboy Heritage Festival will be held at the Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, FL. The top sixteen Ranch Rodeo teams in Florida will compete for the Championship on Friday and Saturday evening. The Cowboy Heritage Festival will be held Saturday and will showcase the Florida Cowboy's way of life. Numerous Florida Cowboy and Native American artists, story-tellers, poets, authors and musicans will be entertaining outside the Silver Spurs Arena throughout the day. The Cowboy Heritage Festival is FREE, tickets are required for each rodeo performance. Please contact the Florida Cattlemen's Association for tickets (407) 846-8025.

  • Oct. 17-19 -Fall Withlacoochee Trail Ride - Proceeds are used to restore and maintain the Wells Log Cabin (circa 1870), located on the farm. Primitive camping (RV's welcome), meals include a Bar B Q dinner, breakfast and lunch on the trail, rides along the Withacoochee River and more.   • October 18, 2008 Levy County Horse Club presents the 8th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Benefit Trailride.  It takes place at the Tidewater Trailhead in Goethe State Forest at Highway 337 and Highway 336 in Levy County.  All proceeds go to benefit area breast cancer patients.  Primitive camping with bathroom facilities and water for the horses.  Poker run, raffles, and BBQ dinner.   • October 19 – National Trail Ride/Walkathon – Geneva Florida.   • October 25,2008  9th annual “Horses Helping Hospice” Halloween Charity trail ride takes place at Rocking Horse Stables in Altoona,Fl. Sponsored by Altoona Trail Riders, Balleymore Arabian Farms, Lannie and Sue Thomas, and Ruff’s Saddle Shop. A minimum donation of $25 entitles each rider to the trail ride and lunch. Larger contributions will also receive T-shirts, caps, and an opportunity to win a custom bridle, saddle or both.  Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and the ride gets under way at 9:00. There will be several groups going out on the trails for slow and medium riders.   Following barbeque lunch at noon, join in the Halloween costume contest.  There will be judging for best horse and rider costume for adults and children and best costume (without horse) for adults and children.  Be creative and come with your best Halloween outfits. Lots of door prizes and raffles.   Camping and stall reservations are available (no tie-outs or pens).   • October 26, 2008 Poker Ride at Lake Panasoffkee.  Suncoast Trailriders will give net proceeds from the ride to Casey's Place Horse Rescue in Hernando County.  Riders out between 9:00-11:00.  There is a $10.00 fee which includes lunch.  There will be door prizes and a costume contest.  Camping available Sat. night.  Contact-ridinjohn@msm.com or call 352-442-2737.

  • Saturday, November 1, 2008 - The 16th Annual Miracle Trail Ride is a marathon fundraiser on horseback to benefit Children’s Miracle Network. Riders are asked to collect pledges in advance for each mile of the ride they complete and will be awarded prizes based on their fundraising. The rider who turns in the most money the day of the ride will win four tickets to Walt Disney World.  Riders must collect at least $50 in donations to ride and will receive breakfast by IHOP, event t-shirt and lunch provided by Sonny’s Bar -B-Q. All riders will also have a chance to win a Tractor Supply Co. shopping spree.  Riders will follow a ten-mile trail through the Lower Wekiva River State Preserve.  All participants must bring their own horses.   • November 25-30 - Join AHOOF-SSHC for our annual Thanksgiving Camp out November 25-30. Held in the Ocala National Forest at Doe Lake. AHOOF will open the gate on Tues at 10 a.m. for  arrival of our week long guests. RSVP is required!   • FEB  6, 7 ,8, 2009    3rd ANNUAL PIG ROAST to benefit the Fechtel tract of The Lower Wekiva preserve. Hosted by the Wekiva Wilderness Trust and The Florida trail Blazers. Come  for a FUN weekend of camping and riding, Ladies bring your non ridding men they can hang out and relax by the roasting PIG. Saturday night PIG ROAST pot luck dinner, Live music, Bung fire, Beach weekend give a ways and other nice prizes. Free tee shirts to the first 100 to arrive at the park. Full moon rides Fri and Sat night. All Proceeds go for the Improvements at this tract.Come see the nice paddocks that were built with last years $$$$.
